YASMEEN SANTANA

Professional Summary

Yasmeen Santana (she/her) joined SUHI in 2024 as a Research Specialist with the Health Equity Research Evaluation team. Yasmeen supports a range of community-engaged research and evaluation initiatives focused on maternal and child health, chronic disease management and promoting health equity.

Prior to joining SUHI, Yasmeen served as a Health Educator at Legacy Community Health in Houston, TX, where she engaged patients in chronic disease self-management, sexual health, nutrition and maternal and child health topics. She also contributed to evaluation efforts for Cook County’s Building Healthier Communities grant at UIC’s Policy, Practice and Prevention Research Center, and supported the UIC Cities Project, a trauma-informed mentoring program connecting undergraduate students with middle schoolers in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood.

Yasmeen is deeply passionate about improving access to culturally-appropriate health care and advancing health equity by working with and for underserved communities.
