One Lawndale Community Health Collective (Collective), led by SUHI, Enlace Chicago, and North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council, is a community-led collaboration of 50+ organizations aiming to build integrated health services and coordinated training networks for community health workers (CHW) serving North and South Lawndale. The Collective works to bring critical health services capacity into community settings by equipping CHWs to more effectively assist neighbors navigating healthcare. CHWs also help increase access to preventive services, health education, social services, and wellness resources, addressing health and social needs of community residents.

“Empower Your Voice” is a study that examines the relationship between mental health and various factors, including trauma, community engagement, social media use, and other well-being indicators among female-identified youth in Chicago. The research investigates whether these relationships vary across demographic characteristics and neighborhoods. The study employs a large quota-based, non-probability survey of female-identified youth aged 12 to 18 across Chicago’s six Health Equity Zones. To enrich the survey findings, innovative qualitative research methods are utilized, including youth-led data walks and neighborhood-level focus groups. The results of this study aim to inform policy decisions, resource development, and future research to better support female-identified youth.

SUHI partnered with the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) to collect and analyze nearly 100 health department planning documents, from a sample of 31 local health departments, to identify key trends in the plans’ goals, priorities, and strategies.
