Professional Summary
Melinda Banks joined the SUHI family in 2015 as a Bilingual Community Health Worker, bringing with her a passion for helping the diabetic community in North and South Lawndale. In 2021, she was promoted to a CHW Coordinator where she works collaboratively to build and maintain relationships within the communities served by Sinai Chicago (Sinai) and within Sinai itself. She assists with developing intervention protocols and health education materials and provides ongoing mentorship and training to CHWs throughout Sinai. Melinda is part of planning and implementing the CHW-led intervention, CSP (CHWs Supporting Patients), the CAP program (CHWs Assisting Patients), and the CHW behavioral health program. Melinda supports SUHI’s newest pilot program, embedding CHWs in Mount Sinai Hospital’s Mother Baby and Labor and Delivery units, aimed at addressing the needs of pregnant and postpartum patients and assisting in developing a standardized process to screen and capture the housing status of homeless patient population with Sinai’s medical records to address housing insecurities. |
