Aidyn Ocon joined SUHI in 2017 as a bilingual Community Health Worker ll and currently serves as a Program Manager where she leads programs and interventions including SUHI’s work with the National Diabetes Prevention Program, a lifestyle change program to help individuals prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. Aidyn has experience working on various SUHI interventions such as breast health navigation, lead poisoning prevention, asthma, and diabetes. She facilitates trainings on these subjects in English and Spanish for CROWD (SUHI’s Center for CHW Research, Outcomes, and Workforce Development).
Prior to joining SUHI, Aidyn was a Community Health Educator for a diabetes research study in the Department of Preventive Medicine at Rush University Medical Center. She knows inequities, language, and socio-economic barriers are major factors that impede a patient’s ability to effectively manage their own health. As a SUHI staff member, she continues to educate, empower, and enrich patients’ lives, thus facilitating positive change in the community. |
