Supportive Oncology

With funding from The Coleman Foundation, a SUHI CHW is stationed in the Oncology Department to improve the quality of life of Sinai Chicago cancer patients and their families where they provide comprehensive and compassionate care for physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Working closely with social workers, the CHW links patients to primary care providers, health screenings, financial assistance, and transportation. Services vary depending on patient need and stage of treatment, typically including assessing patients for unmet social needs, offering emotional support, and helping create advance directives.
